T is for . . .

No, I don’t mean Twilight as in the popular novels or recent films. Go elsewhere for vampire mythologies or metaphors.

Dawn...twilight time

But I love the reality of twilight time, whether near dawn or after sunset. I imagine Jacob’s struggle with the angel was most brutal at twilight. To almost see, and yet not. To almost win, and yet limp away a transformed person.

Was Paul’s first view, following his Damascus blindness, like twilight? Did he wonder if darkness would soon depart or that it might forever stay? A deepened faith can be discovered in the twilight time.

Genesis’ creation myth speaks of dark and light. No reference to twilight. But I imagine it. The Holy hurls forth light, but maybe there was also a divine holding of breath. Would the risk of dawn work? Twilight births hope.
